Prof Omar Faruq is the pioneer in Critical Care Medicine in Bangladesh who has started the first MD course in Critical Care Medicine in BIRDEM.
He received his training in Medicine and allied branches in the US in mid 1970s. He passed American Board of Internal Medicine exams in 1982. He also passed American Board of Emergency Medicine in 1990. He was re-certified in American Board of Emergency Medicine in 2001.He did his FCPS in Medicine in 2006.
Before joining United Hospital as Consultant General ICU, since 1996 he had been working at BIRDEM General Hospital, Dhaka.
