Where can I get a wheelchair when I arrive at the hospital?
Wheelchairs are provided at main lobby and emergency of the hospital. If for some reason one is not available, simply ask at the information desk

What do I do if I have a concern regarding the safety or quality of care?
If you have a concern regarding the safety or quality of care given to our patients, we want to hear from you! We encourage you to contact with duty doctors for the Patient Safety and Quality

How many beds does the United Hospital have?
United Hospital is a 450-bed facility.

What is the registration procedure?
You have to fill out the registration form and submit it to the registration desk officer and he/she will complete the registration formalities. During the registration procedure you have to pay TK-200/= (two Hundred) for registration card.

What items do I need to bring?
  1. Name and address of employer (in case the costs are borne by the employer)
  2. Name,address and telephone number of closest family member(s)
  3. List of all medications you are currently taking and any medication allergies
  4. Medical files

Where should I check in for my admission or scheduled procedure?
You should check in for your admission or scheduled procedure from admission desk.

Why do I get asked the same questions each time I come to United Hospital?
So that things are properly done and the patient is not registered twice.

Will I have to make a payment at the time services are rendered?
Yes.

How can I pay for my services?
United Hospital accepts two forms of payment: Cash and Credit cards.

Should I eat or drink prior to surgery, tests or procedures?
Please consult with your physician regarding medical questions. If the orders are not followed, this could result in surgery, tests or procedures being delayed or canceled.

What is the best way for me to pay my hospital bill?

Why can't I use my own medications when I'm in the hospital?
Our Pharmacy is committed to make sure patients use prescription drugs safely. When you bring medication from home, we don't know if the drug has been properly stored or is otherwise safe. To make sure our patients receive medication in the exact dosage needed, they are given only those medications ordered by their doctor from the hospital Pharmacy.

How and where do I get the medication I'll need when I'm discharged?
At the UHL pharmacy , located next to the payment counter at ground floor.

What if my family wants to find out how I'm diong?
Your family may call you directly at any time on most nursing units and contact with the duty doctor.

Can a family member spend the night with me?
Adequate rest is important for you and your family. We don't encourage family members to spend the night with patients. However, family member can spend the night with patient , only with doctor’s permission, if the patient is in a single standard room.

I have a complaint, what do I do?
United Hospital takes your suggestions and complaints very seriously. If you have a problem, we want to resolve it as quickly as possible and ensure your satisfaction. Complaint forms and box are kept in the main lobby.

Is it OK to bring food from home for someone in UHL?
No

How do I get copies of my hospital medical records?
To protect our patients' privacy, the majority of Medical Records are not available. To speak to someone directly, please call the Medical Records Department at +880 2 8836000-10(8935), +880 2 8836434-44(8935)
