United Hospital Observed World Stroke Day
The theme of World Stroke Day for the year 2018 is “Up Again After Stroke”. Like every year, United Hospital observed World Stroke Day this year in befitting manner by conducting Free Health Check-up in a health check booth at hospital lobby. Around 450 patients and their family members availed free health check throughout the day.
Md. Faizur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of United Hospital Limited inaugurated the booth. He emphasized on the effort United Hospital will give in spreading awareness for prevention of stroke, though the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art stroke centre and other neuroscience facilities. Consultant of Neuroscience Department, Dr. Syed Sayed Ahmed, Dr. S M Hasan Shahriar, Prof. Dr. (Col.) Mohd. Mozibor Rahman and Prof. Dr. Brig Gen (Retd) H M Shafiqul Alam were present in the event among other hospital doctors and nurses. Speakers highlighted the importance of bringing the stroke affected patient in the stroke centre within 3 hours to 4.5 hours to have the stroke-busting Alteplase therapy, to save from life threatening disability. Dr Shagufa Anwar, Chief of Communication & Business Development of the hospital reiterated the need to do stroke screening, especially for those who have family history of stroke in other family members. Stroke risk assessment score card were distributed among participants in the event.
